AgentArmies project update edition 2026-09-06 04:05 UTC
The comprehensive edition Joel asked for on 2026-09-05: everything the fleet has actually built, what can be played in a browser right now, and what stands between today and the first pinned real-world release. Written by the report editor from the repositories, Linear, the nodes' evidence directories and live probes taken at 2026-09-06 04:05 UTC. Every image names its source, head and pose; every URL was fetched when this page was built. Editorial text as of 2026-09-06 03:53 UTC; the probes, card states, change log and repo table are re-read whenever the page is rebuilt. GitHub links open only under an org login; Linear links need a workspace login. The installed twice-daily job (PLAT-103) last reported published at 2026-09-06 01:04 UTC (edition 2026-09-06-0056-project-update.html, renderer pin 2930e51); its schedule is 00:00Z and 12:00Z UTC plus manual runs.
Two kinds of statement on this page. collected 2026-09-06 04:05 UTC marks facts re-read by the collector at that time: URL probes, card states, the change log, the repository table and the job status. editorial, as of 2026-09-06 03:53 UTC marks prose written by the editor and dated when it was last revised; a newer collection does not make it newer. Each heading below carries the marks that apply to its section.

Where the project stands. The new organisation was rebuilt on 2026-09-02; Joel paused the fleet on 2026-09-03 and authorised an autonomous restart on 2026-09-04. Since then the central promise, real Earth data becomes a served, traversable world in the new browser client, has gone from independently reviewed pieces to one connected diagnostic path: earth-data's published Overture generation, tile-compiler's first real product pack (buildings, roads, collision and walkable surfaces for Austin's Barton Hills block, terrain an authored flat fill in the accepted baseline and real relief in the newer public candidates), world-serve's immutable pack endpoints, and client-web's Babylon consumer that verifies every byte by digest and lets you walk the block. The newer maintained public build austin-3a9095f40e40 serves the adjacent Austin fine pair with the rigged avatar and recovered camera available through explicit avatar=on&camera=on flags (both off by default). The author’s public GPU receipts record 6.40 m of grounded avatar walking and 2.02 m with the camera rig, with zero reported page errors or failed requests. The initial camera is cramped near a building; six ArrowLeft presses free its arm from 0.58 m to about 15 m. This is a bounded public increment: no demonstrated default global streaming, rendered multiplayer or release acceptance. The report editor fetched the link and receipts; no new independent root or editorial playthrough is claimed.
What is real and measured. Copernicus GLO-30 terrain for three bounded source blocks (around Austin, San Juan and St. Moritz; generation 24357a29, 442 objects, 4.35 GB) is on the store and independently verified against the raw source: a 1,000-sample height check agreed to within 1.05 cm at worst. Whole-Earth addressing and the source pipeline exist; whole-Earth terrain has not been ingested. DATA-20's figure of 6.0e-10 m is the candidate seam reconstruction agreeing with the contract at 401 test points, not a statement about physical terrain accuracy. A terrain seam defect at shared cell edges (up to 5.9 m) was found by an experiment, attributed to nearest-neighbour resampling and answered with a proposed contract in under a day. The Rust simulation core is deterministic native-to-WASM, runs the traffic page below, and now has a private two-browser session endpoint (C6) with replay receipts. A GPU fauna prototype (shoal on WebGPU compute) exists on the GPU node and is under independent critique. The asset library has its browser, its content-addressed store, one attributed lamp pack in the client's read path, and a first cross-category batch of 24 items under review. The aa2 combat mechanics (Engineer, Bulwark, Medic against robots) run again as an executable reference with 232 tests, ahead of a Rust port. Since the evening of 2026-09-05: the compiled fine surface reproduces its source DEM to within f32 storage (rms 4.4e-6 m over 12,006 posts), and the source is a 30 m grid, so 2 m posts are resolution, not accuracy; the coarse whole-Earth base (DATA-24: 780 COGs, 315.9 MB, 60 arc-second) is merged; the adjacent fine pair (b1, b7) is public and its shared edge agrees to 1.9e-5 m; the aa2 roof, facade, road and prop solvers run inside the compiler on the real pair (100 buildings, 652 windows, 584 prop instances, all inferred and labelled so); the recovered aa2 camera rig, the rigged avatar, daylight, combat presentation and water are merged into the maintained client branch; the asset catalog merged the avatar, SpeedTree, Synty street, NPC and robot records; the scuba boat and journey run natively for 33 simulated seconds from the whole-system packet.
What is not there yet. No release: the public builds are increments and candidates on the play path, pinned by hand. No multiplayer you can join (a public C6 runtime is built and waiting on a platform-owned ingress; the rendered two-client run has not yet shown each player the other). No character selection; the rigged avatar and the camera rig are merged into the maintained branch, not in a public build. No water body in any product. No sustained GPU frame-time envelope for midrange hardware: the first MacBook Air diagnostic exists and is honestly inadmissible for the ladder. No accepted blind judgement of the new stack against the frozen alpha. Test counts and merged PRs below are progress on foundations, not a finished game.
What you can open and play today editorial, as of 2026-09-06 03:53 UTC collected 2026-09-06 04:05 UTC
Each card says what it is (product preview, experiment, legacy reference, or private), what it needs from your browser, and how it was checked. Three cards are static snapshots published with this report; they run entirely in your browser from files under /reports/demos/.
The maintained app’s public increment: rigged avatar and recovered camera (build austin-3a9095f40e40)
The delivery receipt names source 3a9095f40e40 (client-web PR #35; tree identical to squash 8ecb6f7), 912 files / 28,984,618 bytes and a complete byte-and-MIME fetch-back. The adjacent fine pair is the public e9d6252d… pack, with real relief and inferred materials and vegetation. The image beside this card is the earlier 34a21c6 crossing, not the avatar build. No terrain-contact, visible-human or frame-budget acceptance is claimed. Public packs require the same origin.
Needs: a desktop browser with hardware WebGPU or WebGL2; about 29 MB plus public inputs. Controls: WASD walk, Shift run, Arrow keys turn the active camera rig, Tab inspector, V walkable overlay.
Earlier public candidates on the play path (2026-09-05 afternoon): relief, inferred materials, vegetation over the b1 and c9 pair
Three reviewed client heads, each published as an immutable build by the game lead's single publisher on 2026-09-05 and each walked in a real public WebGPU browser by the composer (Chromium 151, about 124 m walked, about 13 m of climb, every ground sample grounded, 32 moving birds, 15 public product fetches, zero errors). The ground is real relief from the compiler's supported-terrain profile (tile-compiler PR #16, head 07a4da1, two approvals, not merged) over two Austin cells (b1 and c9) in the public 926… pack; this is not a connected region and c9 is reached by teleport, not by walking. Roads, facades and ground materials are inferred surfaces, labelled so in the HUD; vegetation is inferred cover on unsurveyed ground. Nothing here is a release: these are the candidates that led to the 34a21c6 increment above; the derived 06406eb snapshot below is the flat baseline they grew from.
Terrain (client-web PR #16, head 1740917, approved 17:01 and 17:09 UTC): open. Materials (PR #17, head a91f12f, approved 18:07 and 18:10 UTC): open. Vegetation (PR #19, head 3d2db81, approved 18:28 and 18:41 UTC; 17 models, 59,262 grass blades, 8 trees and 31 props placed in b1): open. Needs: a desktop browser with hardware WebGPU or WebGL2; about 25 MB. Controls: WASD walk, Shift run, drag to look, Tab inspector, V walkable overlay. Checked: by the composer's public browser run at 17:14, 18:16 and 18:52 UTC with fetch-back of every file against the reviewed manifest; this report only re-fetched the URLs (HTTP 200) and did not repeat the browser run.
Walk the real Barton Hills block (compiled from real data)
What it is. The new stack's client on the first real compiler pack: 9 level-16 cells of Barton Hills, Austin, every building footprint and road from Overture data, collision and walkable surfaces from the compiler, verified by digest at every hop. You spawn in the home cell and walk east across a cell boundary; a cell whose ground did not verify is refused and not walked on.
What it is not. Flat authored terrain (no relief yet), grey extrusions with no assets, no sky beyond a gradient, capsule player. This is a derived snapshot, not an exact reviewed build: the reviewed CLI-2 head 06406eb (two providers approved that commit) plus one report-owned four-line store-root patch (patch sha256 9cc100a4…, build id 06406eb-snap, folder tree sha256 bb14e5ea…) so the export can live under this page's path; the client owner reproduced this patched build and confirmed the bounded delta at 06:48 UTC (nested path ready, 9 cells, 8.09 m walked, grounded, inspector, 0 failed requests). Daylight (CLI-3), vegetation (CLI-4), combat presentation (CLI-5), the avatar (CLI-10), the camera rig (CLI-14) and water (CLI-8) were merged into the maintained integration branch between 22:15 UTC on 2026-09-05 and 00:19 UTC on 2026-09-06 and are not in this snapshot. Product preview, derived snapshot: reviewed head 06406eb plus a report-owned store-root patch; real compiler output, no release accepted it.
Controls: WASD walk, Shift run, drag to look, V walkable overlay, Tab inspector (the pack's own claims, cells, licences) Needs: Desktop Chrome/Edge/Firefox/Safari with WebGL2 (Babylon.js 9; WebGPU is tried first and falls back). About 23 MB of static files. No account, no server.
Checked before publish (2026-09-05T06:37Z): headless Chromium (SwiftShader, CPU) served under /reports/demos/client-web-06406eb/; the staged copy, not the build tree; player walked 5.4 m in 2 s on W at 3.2 m/s with grounded=true and no blocker (staged copy served under /reports/demos/client-web-06406eb/); Tab opened the inspection panel; HUD reads "filled terrain (flat-fill-v0), not measured ground · compiler 87e7532 · this build 06406eb"; errors: none (a WebGPU-init message when the CPU renderer fell back to WebGL2); 0 failed requests. GPU check: not yet: eval owns the GPU capture; CLI-3 pair-2 frames on an RTX PRO 4000 are the closest evidence.

Derived snapshot, not an exact reviewed build: the reviewed head 06406eb plus one report-owned patch to src/main.ts (+4/-1 lines: the store root resolves beside the page instead of at the origin root, so the export can live under /reports/demos/), built with `vite build --base ./` and VITE_BUILD_ID=06406eb-snap. Sourcemaps and the negative-control fixture are omitted. The client owner reproduced this patched build and confirmed the bounded delta (06:48 UTC). The unused real-87e7532/index.provenance.json sidecar is omitted at the owner's request (it quoted a build-machine path); the referenced index and products are untouched.
Traffic and pedestrians on real Overture roads (deterministic Rust core in WebAssembly)
What it is. The deterministic Rust sim core compiled to WebAssembly, ticking at 30 Hz over real road graphs (17 place groups from the earth-data road layer: Austin, Seattle, Paris, New York, Tampa, Santa Barbara, Kyoto, Miami, St. Moritz, Honolulu, London, Yosemite, San Juan and more). Vehicles keep to drivable paths, pedestrians to footways. The page's own state digest is compared against the native run's receipt at ticks 300, 900 and 1800.
What it is not. A top-down diagnostic canvas, not the game renderer. Traffic-only behaviours (the core's player, intent and ability layers are in draft PRs). Light density; the browser scaling experiment below shows where dense stress breaks. Experiment: the SIM-5 traffic page from world-sim main, published here ahead of its own gated publish.
Controls: Pause, Step, Restart, speed 1x/4x, type or advance the seed (Apply seed / Next seed), pick a place group, Run to tick 300/900/1800 and compare the page's digest with the native receipt Needs: Any current desktop or mobile browser with WebAssembly; 1.2 MB of static files; no GPU needed.
Checked before publish (2026-09-05T06:56Z): headless Chromium served under /reports/demos/world-sim-traffic-9b3c0d1/; tick-300 state digest 165e63ffae2c75679d47647cbc2c455eb7baa8565cd485b939055dc4a8fc53cc on this page (wasm32) equals sim-cli native (receipts.json): "matches native"; 0 errors, 0 failed requests, restart reproduces the run; Pause, Step, Restart, 1x, 4x, Apply seed, Next seed, Find, Run to x3; errors: none, no failed requests.

Built with the repo's own scripts/demo-build.sh (release profile, wasm-bindgen 0.2.127) from main. world-sim's own publish to demos.agentarmies.io/world-sim/demo/traffic/ waits on platform PR #41 (the publisher legal gate); this copy is the report's snapshot. The wasm was rebuilt for publication with --remap-path-prefix added to the wasm32 rustflags (a build-environment setting; the deterministic target features are unchanged) so no build-machine path is embedded; the wasm-bindgen glue is byte-identical.
The frozen alpha (legacy reference, playable)
The previous monorepo's game, frozen on 2026-09-02, still served at its own host. It is the comparison floor for the new stack, not its target: eval's blind pairs score the new client against it so that nothing ships below the old stack. Barton Hills with an authored palette, an Engineer with five abilities (Laser Pulse, Arc Nova, Stasis Field, Repair Beam, Overload Beam), robots, XP, portals. Nothing in it is produced by the new pipeline. Eval's accepted Austin capture (the ladder's first rung) is a frame of this build. The four-week imagery programme (real light, terrain relief, vegetation, water, GPU fauna) is sustained R&D aimed beyond this floor; matching it is not the goal.
Needs: a desktop browser with WebGL2 and a GPU; it streams nine cells and takes about 70 to 120 s to become ready on the eval rig. Controls: WASD, mouse look, 1 to 5 abilities. Checked: the page loaded and rendered the spawn HUD in headless Chromium at build time (the 2 fps in the screenshot is the CPU renderer used for the check, not the alpha's performance).
Labs dashboard (live page)
Every lab with its card, kill date, criterion, latest measured row with receipt, the row it must beat, the negative controls, and a 24-cell NAIP gallery. Built from labs head 559201a on 2026-09-03 23:55 UTC (its status.json says so); the 30-minute refresh timer on the GPU node has not moved it since, so it does not yet show 2026-09-05's LAB-12 and LAB-13 results (see the labs lane).
Eval reference photography and live evidence (live pages)
The reference board: 17 portal places, each with its pose, stresses and subjects; 68 street-level reference frames are held internally (Google Street View, never served publicly) and only the promoted Austin capture has pixels on the public page. The live-evidence page lists every capture with its admissibility verdict, harness commit, renderer string and SHA-256, including withdrawn ones.
Org demos index and progress hub (live pages)
Platform's nightly index of every repo's declared demo page (1 repos live, 16 pending, 1 red — live front ends: none (1 page stale); written 2026-09-06 02:59 UTC). Most repos still read pending. The shared demo publisher's publish-time gate (platform PR #41) merged at 23:26 UTC on 2026-09-05: every emitted URL is cleared against the vendored legal-status record, which since Joel's 08:00 owner authorization (INB-24) treats licence status as an asynchronous risk log rather than a hosting gate. Eval's own publisher still enforces the older restriction in code (EVAL-22, eval PR #28 open). Repos turn from pending to live as each publishes through the merged gate; the game publisher's path put the first formerly held bytes, the C3 draft pack, public at 08:35 UTC.
GPU fauna prototype: flocks above, schools below (simulation on WebGPU compute or a CPU/WASM reference; WebGPU rendering in both modes)
What it is. SIM-17's fauna prototype as a self-contained page: a shoal whose dynamics step either on the GPU (WebGPU compute shaders) or on the CPU as a WebAssembly reference of the same rules; the backend switch only chooses where the simulation runs. Rendering is WebGPU in both modes, so a hardware WebGPU browser is required either way and there is no path for a browser without it. Neighbour search is a direct uniform grid (27-cell search, nearest 8). Authored low-poly proxies stand in for fish; the page reports adapter, population, tick and inspection counts.
What it is not. An experiment with a disclosed open gate: the author's own runtime notes name unresolved trajectory agreement between the GPU path and the reference, red trajectories and soft contact. Independent spatial review covers earlier sources (629264a to 5087ded), where it confirmed a direct uniform-grid neighbour search, not a hash grid; the 365f8d6 export's runtime has not been independently reviewed. Eval must check the final public URL, /reports/demos/sim17-365f8d6/, in a hardware browser. Not a fauna system for the game. Experiment; diagnostic publication authorised with disclosed limits; not a fauna system for the game.
Controls: population 1,024 or 8,192; algorithm: direct uniform grid (27-cell search, nearest 8) or cohort scaffold; backend: GPU compute or CPU/WASM reference (where the simulation steps; rendering stays on WebGPU); Pause; Reset (fixed seed 1337) Needs: A browser with hardware WebGPU (Chrome or Edge on a machine with a GPU; Safari 26 or Firefox with WebGPU enabled). The backend switch only chooses where the simulation runs; rendering is WebGPU in both modes, so there is no path for a browser without WebGPU. Software GPU fallback is refused by design and the page then shows the recorded preview. About 3.7 MB.
Checked before publish (2026-09-05T06:41Z): headless Chromium (software GPU) served under /reports/demos/sim17-365f8d6/ (the publisher's fixed path); the page loaded at the publisher's fixed path with every request inside the sub-path and 0 failed requests; controls present (population, algorithm, mode, Pause, Reset); it refused the software adapter as designed and showed the recorded preview, so the interactive path is unverified here until a hardware browser opens the final public URL; Pause, Reset; selects population/algorithm/mode; errors: the intended "Software GPU fallback detected" refusal only.

Copied byte-for-byte from the author's public export (SHA256SUMS verified, 16 of 16) to the publisher's fixed path /reports/demos/sim17-365f8d6/. Independent spatial review covers earlier sources 629264a to 5087ded (a direct uniform-grid neighbour search); this export's runtime is not yet independently reviewed. The author verified nested-path resource closure and real NVIDIA Chromium interaction for this export; eval's public hardware check of the final URL is pending.
Asset library browser (private, screenshots below)
The library browser (AST-7) runs against a local content-addressed store on the nodes. Since the evening of 2026-09-05 the catalog has merged records for the default avatar body and locomotion (AST-21), ten SpeedTree tree forms (AST-23), Synty street and park props (AST-24, 71 records), NPC bodies and 17 robot assemblies (AST-26), CC0 vegetation and ground proxies (AST-18), the Austin scene batch (AST-19), swim, sit and climb clips (AST-22) and the recovered aa2 inventory and import pipeline (AST-13). Library bytes stay on the nodes and in the shared cache and are read by the client through pinned digests; the catalog itself publishes nothing. Licences are recorded as found (Synty EULA, SpeedTree library, permission-pending) with the owner authorization of 2026-09-05 beside each pack: a logged basis, not a gate. Public asset bytes so far are the packs the client owner hosts for its builds under /play/assets/ (AST-18 proxies, AST-19 props); the avatar packs were reported hosted at 23:28 UTC but did not answer when this report was collected. Screenshots from the browser's review captures are in the gallery; the store's receipts page is public.
Private surfaces that exist but are deliberately not linked here
- world-serve's draft pack endpoints on the CPU node (ports 8790 and 8791: the canonical 87e7532 pack and the isolated 548d31f pack), reachable on the tailnet only, same-origin, no CORS. They serve 207 of 207 objects byte-identical to the store and answer 404 with an empty body for private plan and coverage artefacts. Verified 2026-09-05 05:52 UTC after moving to the merged world-serve code.
- Three client-web preview servers on the CPU node (builds 651bd9c, 908d472, c4f0773) used by builders and reviewers.
- Dagster's webserver for earth-data on the CPU node (tailnet).
- GTA5 and Google Street View reference imagery: their licence rows are unchanged (no third-party grant exists), and since 2026-09-05 08:00 they are publishable under Joel's owner authorization with the risk logged (INB-24). None is staged for this report yet, so none appears here.
- The scuba reference and the current scuba whole-system packet (boat controller, open-ocean journey, shared hull and contact geometry, the water-motion field, a CPU ecology at 30 Hz with 1,200 fish in 48 schools): first-party code being imported whole under INB-26 (world-sim PR #23, client-web PRs #27 and #36). No reef still is in this edition because no public frame of it exists yet, not because of a permission hold; its fish and flora are first-party procedural builds with no catalog record except the blue tang.
- The maintained client integration branch and its preview servers on the CPU node (terrain, materials, daylight, vegetation, combat presentation, avatar, camera rig, water, store-root fix merged between 21:23 UTC on 2026-09-05 and 00:19 UTC on 2026-09-06); a public build of it is the composer's next increment.
- The prepared public C6 runtime (world-sim PR #20 successor fc769b7): a frozen executable and a finite launch, expiry and rollback plan on the CPU node; no listener is running and no firewall rule exists until the platform ingress owner acts.

The maintained app's public increment (head merged 2026-09-05 21:23 UTC): the adjacent fine pair, walked across and back
Frames copied from the composer's public evidence for build austin-34a21c6d437c over the public e9d pair (real WebGPU browser on the GPU node, no local fulfilment). An accepted increment of the maintained path, not a release; relief is derived from a 30 m source, materials and vegetation are inferred.

Earlier public candidates on the play path (2026-09-05 afternoon): relief, materials, vegetation over b1 and c9
Frames copied from the composer's public evidence for the three candidate builds (real WebGPU browser on the public host); heads and poses in each caption. Candidates that led to the increment above; surfaces and vegetation are inferred, not surveyed.

The new client on real data: lighting pair on GPU hardware (CLI-3, diagnostic)
Left of each pair: the CLI-2 deployment head. Right: the daylight branch (sun-lit dome, cascaded shadows, ACES tone curve) on the same pack, same pose, same rig. Rendered with WebGPU on an NVIDIA RTX PRO 4000 by eval; an independent Opus judge verified all 12 sidecar pins and found the shadows hard (no soft penumbra), a light leak at one wall foot, and a neutral grey ambient, while confirming the tone curve removed all clipping. The lead's shadow fix (bc8fd22) is in review; a pair 3 capture is queued.

The pipeline: six layers, one direction editorial, as of 2026-09-06 03:53 UTC
The architecture of record (ARCHITECTURE.md): IMPORT every acquirable Earth source into immutable blobs, NORMALIZE into a versioned ontology with every field marked by its basis, COMPILE a tile and its halo into one solved plan projected to render and sim products, STORE content-addressed generation-stamped products, SIMULATE server-side truth, RENDER served products only. One producer per surface; real data wins and invention is marked authored forever. The colour of each box is its state today.
What each layer holds today, in one line each
- IMPORT / NORMALIZE (earth-data). Overture 2026-08-19.0 (13 layers, whole-Earth gap records, generation 5f8a73fd served); Copernicus GLO-30 terrain for three bounded source blocks around Austin, San Juan and St. Moritz (generation 24357a29, 442 COGs, 4.35 GB, verified); the coarse whole-Earth base (DATA-24, merged 2026-09-05 22:52 UTC: 780 COGs, 315.9 MB, 60 arc-second elevation and a land/ocean mask; background only, about 1.85 km at the equator); a level-7 Austin fixture with buildings, WorldCover and Sentinel-2. Served WorldCover (PR #16), declared datum and epoch per layer (PR #22), the consumed fixture (PR #20) and the global base's publish mode (PR #23) are open drafts.
- COMPILE (tile-compiler). Real C3 product packs from jobs: 29 flat cells and 174 products in the baseline root; supported terrain with the declared SWNE profile (CMP-22, PR #16, two approvals and an independent artifact review, open) behind the public b1, c9 and b1, b7 pairs; the 512 m render-only skirt apron merged (PR #23). The aa2 solvers run inside the compiler as open PRs: worldkit vendored whole (#21), streets, driveways and bridges (#22), roof and massing (#26), semantic props (#27), vector facades (#20), a globally addressed job envelope with Rust comparison (#28). The coarse globe (CMP-34, PR #18) is a draft.
- STORE / SERVE (world-serve, contracts). Immutable pack verify, copy, pin and rollback merged (CMP-21); static per-cell lookup merged (PR #9, 19:31 UTC); the fine adjacent pair intake merged (PR #11, 21:14 UTC). Three immutable packs are public on the play host (the 29-cell 42c… root, the 926… b1 and c9 pair, the e9d… b1 and b7 pair); the C3 draft format, the tri-swne-v1 profile label (PR #19, merged 23:14 UTC) and the browser SDK are on contracts main; no release and no generation index yet (C8 v0 exists, C9 not cut); the A2 public-cell SDK (PR #21) is approved and open.
- SIMULATE (world-sim). Deterministic core native and WASM; traffic; the session layer merged to main (PR #9, 23:16 UTC); private C6 sessions (PR #12) and the SIM-12 vehicle reference (PR #17) merged into their task branches; the complete aa2 mob behaviour package (PR #24) merged into the combat branch; a public C6 runtime is built and waits on a platform-owned finite ingress; the marine import (PR #23) and vehicle adoption (PR #25) are drafts.
- RENDER (client-web). The maintained integration branch (not main) carries terrain, materials, daylight, vegetation, the combat presentation packet, the rigged avatar, the recovered aa2 camera rig (behind
?camera=on), water and the store-root fix; its last public build is the 34a21c6 increment on the fine pair. Global async streaming (CLI-15, PR #29), the coarse world background (CLI-11, PR #20), the props palette (CLI-12, PR #23), the INB-26 props mount (PR #40), boat journey (PR #36), sky and SpeedTree vegetation (PRs #37, #39) are open. - ASSETS (asset-catalog). Store, verbs, library browser, lamp pack, first cross-category batch and fauna handoff on main; merged on 2026-09-05 evening: the aa2 inventory and import pipeline (AST-13), CC0 vegetation and ground proxies (AST-18), the Austin scene batch (AST-19), the library intake plan (AST-20), avatar body and locomotion records (AST-21), swim, sit and climb clips (AST-22), ten SpeedTree tree forms (AST-23), Synty street and park props (AST-24), NPC bodies and robot assemblies (AST-26), sourced budget classes (AST-17). Adoption measurements in the maintained client are the pending receipts.
Runtime architecture: CPU, GPU, client, server editorial, as of 2026-09-06 03:53 UTC
Where things actually run this week. Two dedicated Hetzner boxes (a 20-thread i5-13500 with an RTX PRO 4000 Blackwell 24 GB, and a 32-thread 7950X3D with 128 GB) host every builder, reviewer, capture and service; the Mac holds the parent and the publisher credentials. Public bytes live in Cloudflare R2 behind three hosts.
Decisions the diagram encodes
- The read path is static objects on a CDN. Products are content-addressed and generation-stamped; a consumer pins a digest and verifies bytes at the point of use. The only synchronous calls in the system are client to sim and the demand post (ARCHITECTURE §4).
- Server-side truth, client prediction. world-sim owns state in Rust; the same core compiles to WASM so a browser can predict with identical arithmetic. The C6 session protocol (contracts PR #18, merged 2026-09-05 05:02 UTC) defines private development sessions, movement and one ability; world-sim's endpoint (PR #12) carries it over WebTransport with two Chromium clients replaying to the same state hash.
- GPU work is measured with rendering, transfer and interaction together. SIM-17 reports compute step, render, upload bytes and completion latency per frame rather than a bare kernel time.
- The legal gate binds bytes and attribution, not permission (changed 2026-09-05 08:00). Until this morning every object written to a public bucket had to resolve to public-ok LEGAL-LOG rows. Joel's owner authorization (INB-24) supersedes that: licence uncertainty, vendor permission and a missing per-source row are asynchronous facts in the risk log, not hosting gates; integrity checks (digests, closure, provenance) stay fail-closed. The record (orchestrator PR #37, head af43b53, open under independent review) marks all 54 sources publishable, 32 by licence and 22 by owner authorization; no licence row is rewritten and no third-party grant is claimed. The shared demo publisher's gate (platform PR #41) merged at 23:26 UTC on 2026-09-05; eval's publisher still enforces the older restriction in code (EVAL-22); the catalog records each pack's licence as found with the authorization beside it. Rows for the DATA-24 sources (NOAA ETOPO 2022, CC0; Natural Earth, public domain) were recorded at 21:19 UTC (orchestrator PR #36).
- Every task owner owns its pull request end to end (Joel, 2026-09-05 20:21 UTC; platform PR #45 merged 21:35). Independent review, findings, CI diagnosis, conflicts, current-head closure, approved merge and consumer handoff belong to the owner; parents own strategy, allocation and unresolved cross-functional decisions. Independence means fresh context and no authorship, not parentage; no self-approval. At 22:28 UTC Joel added that feature owners may inspect and change every repository a coherent outcome needs and exercise producer, generated SDK and consumer candidates together before separate publication; the parent is not the relay.
- Every repository carries the big picture (Joel, 2026-09-05; rollout completion verified 22:34 UTC). A shared-mission block (the Earth MMO, the six layers, global streaming, identities, LOD and authority, engine-neutral products, CPU and GPU roles, complete aa2 reuse, strategic build and review judgement) was rolled into both agent-instruction files of 15 repositories, 32 files, all merged by 22:34 UTC with independent approvals; no further policy rollout is requested.
- Compute is placed, not bought (2026-09-05 22:18 and 2026-09-06 00:08 UTC). Two GPU-node disk incidents in six hours (2.71 GB free, then 268 MB) were handled by removing inactive downloads and six unused Cargo target trees (31.6 GiB reclaimed, root at 31.84 GiB free), relocating world-sim build trees to a legacy GPU host's NVMe scratch behind wrappers, and approving a user-level Cargo guard that refuses new compiler launches below a 16 GiB floor (platform source bbae937, deployment readback awaited). The CPU node has about 773 GiB free; no new server is justified until placement is fixed.

Data import, normalisation and cloud storage (earth-data, platform) In ProgressDoneDone
Delivered (reviewed, merged or independently verified)
- Overture 2026-08-19.0 normalised for the whole Earth in 13 layers with exact gap objects; generation
5f8a73fdis the live dev pointer (published 2026-09-03 05:48 UTC) with road width, bridge, tunnel and connector attributes (DATA-16). - Whole-Earth terrain: Copernicus GLO-30 as 442 level-7 COGs (4.35 GB), generation
24357a29, independently verified 2026-09-05 01:49 UTC (C1 chain, object digests, heights within 1.2 mm of raw source plus EGM2008 geoid). - DATA-21 (merged 06:04 UTC today): one normalised fixture for Austin cell 865b4 with 100 buildings (88 observed OSM heights, 1 modelled, 11 missing, every attribute labelled), ESA WorldCover and a Sentinel-2 datatake, 414 MB on the GPU node; a 27 MB level-9 companion for CI.
- DATA-18 (merged): long-lived R2 connections degraded to 0.65 MB/s; the terrain run now bounds to four fresh connections. DATA-17: a frozen complete-subset generation for replay. DATA-19: a partial publication no longer leaves a stale status.
- The job runner (PLAT-14, platform PR #30 merged 2026-09-05 00:13 UTC):
just job runsubmits a job to the CPU node over SSH without carrying a credential, follows its sealed log across reconnects, returns a receipt with cost; real-SSH acceptance passed at 02:27 UTC. - DATA-24 (earth-data PR #17, merged 2026-09-05 22:52 UTC as 13b1c81): the coarse whole-Earth base, 780 COGs and 315.9 MB of 60 arc-second ETOPO 2022 elevation with a Natural Earth land and ocean mask; about 1.85 km at the equator, so background only, never street detail; its legal rows are recorded (orchestrator PR #36). DATA-23's terrain resampling merged at 09:54 UTC; DATA-26 has 400 staged WorldCover cells plus 42 source-absent ocean cells across the three blocks.
- The compiled fine surface reproduces its source DEM to within f32 storage (product minus DEM within ±7.6e-6 m, rms 4.4e-6 m over the 12,006 posts of the public pair; the geoid handling checked end to end). The source is a 30 m grid, so a 2 m post spacing is resolution, not accuracy (INB-26 edge lane, 23:08 UTC).
Pending
- The served pointer still names generation 5f8a73fd (Overture only); a terrain-bearing generation under the seam contract is the next publish. The daemon's status object read false for
stalewhen this page was collected. - DATA-20's proposed ADR 0011 (terrain support and common-edge contract) awaits the compiler's choice between the publisher-lattice window (d1) and bilinear-in-source on the unchanged grid (b). The compiler's decoder currently accepts (b).
- Served WorldCover with observed, inferred, missing and water semantics (PR #16), a declared vertical datum, horizontal datum and epoch on every served layer (DATA-27, PR #22), the consumed cell fixture (DATA-25, PR #20), the frozen-subset promotion (PR #19) and the global base's publish mode (PR #23) are open drafts; imagery, water and heights as whole-Earth layers (DATA-8 to DATA-12) are not started beyond the fixture.
- PLAT-97: measuring real object fan-out, range and cache latency and recovery cost on the GPU node is filed, not run.
Blockers
- Publication and adoption lag: the compiler's public pairs consume a private C1 bundle, not the served pointer; datum, epoch and common-edge semantics (DATA-27, ADR 0011) are the critical finish.
Next proof
A terrain-bearing generation served by the pointer with Austin's cells and the seam contract applied, consumed by the compiler on the full row (b1, b3, b5, b7), not the pair.
Asset library and import (asset-catalog) DoneDoneDone
Delivered (reviewed, merged or independently verified)
- The content-addressed store with publish, verify and promote and their negative controls (AST-4); the authoring verbs import, describe, measure, budget and licence add (AST-5); a vendor register for Synty, Unity, SpeedTree, Xfrog, Tripo, Meshy and Fab holdings (AST-8; licence rows unchanged, publishable since 08:00 under the owner authorization with the risk logged).
- The library browser (AST-7): every record at every LOD, search, facets, honest gaps (absent from the store, bytes do not match the digest), licence status per record.
- The lamp integration pack (AST-11, merged 2026-09-05 04:49 UTC): the attributed AnisotropyBarnLamp with LOD 0 and LOD 1 in the exact read path the client needs, digest-pinned, credit line carrying the modification clause.
- Live-oak height truth for eval (AST-16): 13.2393 m vs 12.84 m re-derived from the source mesh and transforms.
- Merged on the evening of 2026-09-05 (each with two independent approvals, green CI, packet bytes checksummed into the composer's shared intake on the CPU node): AST-13, the recovered aa2 inventory and import pipeline (PR #15, 21:47 UTC); AST-18 CC0 vegetation and ground-dressing proxies (PR #19); AST-19, the held-vendor Austin scene batch and its 52 remaining props (PRs #22, #27); AST-20 intake plan (PR #20); AST-21, the default avatar body and locomotion records over the client's staged pack (PR #21, 23:28 UTC: 19 body parts, 4 clips, 2 atlases on the 88-joint rig; the current pack drives walk with the run clip and run with sprint, repair owned by CLI-10); AST-22 swim, sit and climb clips (PR #25); AST-23, ten SpeedTree tree forms with thirty mesh LODs and exact crop-union cards (PR #29; 403 objects, 728.7 MB; wind static; every complete PNG atlas chain breaches the provisional LOD 3 byte ceiling, no waiver); AST-24 Synty street and park props, packet 1 (PR #24: 71 records, 293 objects, 17.0 MB); AST-26 NPC bodies, 17 robot assemblies and the following holdings (PRs #23, #31: 4 packs, 21 records, 321.5 MB; scale unvalidated, several variants not at grade, read ADOPTION-LIMITS first); AST-17 sourced budget classes (PR #26).
Pending
- Adoption receipts in the maintained client for every packet: asset key, reference and runtime scale, signed feet-to-support offset, selected LOD and distance, identity and clip continuity across eviction and reload, resident bytes (INB-20). Merged records are inputs, not scene acceptance.
- A geometry-only republish of the SpeedTree GLBs: one species resident costs 156.6 MB of texture because the vendor GLBs embed all nine images in every LOD (eval's judge named this the blocker for the oak lane).
- The scuba scene's assets: 27 of 28 (diver, 11 clips, 8 species, 6 flora) have no catalog record; the blue tang matches byte for byte but is private (AST-15 check, 23:16 UTC).
- AST-25 CC0 material library packet 1 (PR #28), AST-24 packet 2 buildings and yards (PR #33), AST-8 restartable vendor acquisition (PR #34) are open drafts; AST-27 tracks the truthful origin, scale and readiness corrections for the following holdings.
Blockers
- Consumer adoption, not permission: licences are recorded as found (custom Synty EULA, SpeedTree library, permission-pending) with owner-authorization:joel-2026-09-05 beside each pack, a logged basis rather than a gate. Public asset bytes so far are the packs the client owner hosts for its builds (AST-18 proxies, AST-19 props under /play/assets/); the avatar packs were reported hosted at 23:28 UTC but did not answer when this page was collected; SpeedTree, Synty and holdings library bytes stay on the nodes and in the shared cache.
Next proof
One packet measured in the maintained client on real ground (a bench at the right height with the right shading), recorded on INB-20 with the adopted client head.
Solved, render and collision tiles (tile-compiler, contracts C3) In ProgressIn ProgressIn review
Delivered (reviewed, merged or independently verified)
- CMP-6 (tile-compiler PR #11, merged 2026-09-05 02:08 UTC, 302 files): a job for a pinned World Manifest and a level-16 cell emits a solved plan, six draft C3 products, a coverage answer and a digest-bound manifest. The accepted local pack: 29 cells, 174 products, 9,922,019 bytes; nine populated cells with zero exact-overlap pairs, zero reconstruction mismatches, matching roof, floor and collision triangles; max source-to-wire displacement 1.06 mm.
- C3 on contracts main: product manifest schemas and registries (PR #13), the Tile Product wire adoption and browser package (PR #17, merged 02:28 UTC) whose fetch-and-verify was run independently in CPU Chromium over the real pack (29 manifests, 174 products, zero Range requests).
- CMP-32: real building and route geometry compared against the frozen aa2 and lab references; CMP-33 proposes the walkable-ground and road-surface semantics (collision field is the height authority; walkable meshes are projections).
- CMP-25 (merged): public PUTs gated on the pinned legal status.
- Supported terrain (CMP-22, PR #16, head 07a4da1, two approvals and an independent GPU artifact review at 23:26 UTC approving the bounded b1 and c9 acceptance): the declared SWNE triangular profile, terrain and collision byte-identical per cell, strict reconstruction, walkable projections; relief 15.37 m in b1 and 33.53 m in c9. Its products are the public 926… pair and, through the fine pair intake, the public e9d… pair; b7 on the older lattice was correctly refused (product.off-lattice-coordinate). The 512 m render-only skirt apron (PR #23) merged at 22:55 UTC.
- The aa2 solvers imported whole and run inside the compiler on the real pair (INB-26, all open pull requests, each with its own tests and job manifests validated by the shared job envelope): worldkit vendored whole and green (#21); streets, driveways and bridges solved on a real cell (#22); roof and massing (#26: 100 distinct buildings across six owning cells, 99 solved, none exceeding its carried height, surface ids stable across residency); semantic props and utilities (#27: 345 and 239 instances on b1 and b7, every one synthesized, none mapped to a surveyed point of interest, the mount verified on the maintained client head with 847 tests); vector facades (#20: 24 buildings, 652 windows, rows the wall cannot hold dropped rather than drawn); the globally addressed native job envelope with Rust comparison (#28). Coarse-mesh far terrain (CMP-34, PR #18) stays a draft.
- The INB-26 edge lane's L15 row for the spawn neighbourhood (23:08 UTC): fine and fine seam closed to 1.9e-5 m; the coarse rungs are never navigable and their finest post spacing is 18.55 km; where the coarse background stands above fine ground (by up to +5.16 m and +15.06 m at two rungs) the consumer must cull it, which the apron cannot fix.
Pending
- Merging CMP-22 (PR #16) and the INB-26 solver imports (#20, #21, #22, #26, #27, #28) into main; the LAB-13 door, interior and geometry-control rules (lab main e5c13a8, slope-aware door rule merged 23:59 UTC) handed to the roof lane for porting.
- The private GLO-30 COG reader (PR #15), NOTICE.txt from the exact build graph (CMP-27, PRs #14, #19, #24), the operation-observing fixtures (CMP-37, PR #25).
- The row's other two cells (b3, b5) are not compiled; the public pairs are not a connected region.
Blockers
- A served terrain generation with datum and epoch declared (earth-data); the imported worldkit's own test tree is red on the vendor base (30 failures in packages/worldkit from data trees the import did not carry).
Next proof
The full L15 row (b1, b3, b5, b7) compiled with relief, roofs, facades and props from one job graph, served as one immutable pack and walked end to end in the maintained client.
Terrain, buildings, vegetation, water, weather and life TriageTriageTriageTriage
Delivered (reviewed, merged or independently verified)
- Terrain relief is public on four Austin cells (the 926… and e9d… pairs) from three bounded fine blocks, plus a merged coarse whole-Earth base for background only; the seam defect is diagnosed with two candidate contracts and the fine pair's shared edge agrees to 1.9e-5 m. Roofs (100 buildings), facades (652 windows) and props (584 instances) are solved by the aa2 imports for the pair and await mounting in the maintained client (PR #40 for props is open and ready).
- Buildings: real Overture footprints extruded with roofs and floors in the compiled pack; DATA-21 labels heights observed / modelled / missing; LAB-13 (lab-geometry-solves PR #8) adds roof, doorway and interior geometry behind the plan seam from a pinned real footprint, with door rules recorded and byte-identical reruns.
- Vegetation and ground (CLI-4): grass as thin instances, a tree card tier, authored wind, placement from product geometry only; composed into the public candidates and the 34a21c6 increment behind
?veg=on(133,222 blades and 29 trees across the pair); LAB-12 places 518 inferred trees on one real route from NAIP as a reproducible diagnostic with no accuracy claim; LAB-15 patch-scale vegetation on the DATA-21 fixture merged (lab-satellite-vision PR #7). The Arm A visual lab composed roofs, SpeedTree oaks, aa2 ground and shadow law and a 17:00 sky on the nine-cell root on a real GPU and walked a cell boundary out and back with no orphaned instances (INB-25, 23:08 UTC); its sky (PR #37) and SpeedTree (PR #39) integration branches are drafts awaiting the composer's base. - Daylight (CLI-3, PR #4 head 132b373, two approvals) folded into the maintained client at 22:47 UTC (PR #33); water (CLI-8, PR #8, two approvals) merged into the maintained branch at 00:19 UTC on 2026-09-06: Fresnel, glint, refraction and ripples on verified water only, and since no root carries a water body (Overture water is not imported) the module mounts, draws nothing and says why.
- Life: SIM-17's GPU shoal prototype and AST-15's fauna records; the traffic core moves vehicles and pedestrians on real roads.
Pending
- Relief beyond the four public cells, and the coarse globe as a labelled background only (CLI-11, PR #20, two approvals).
- Water import (DATA-10); the scuba water-motion field (LAB-20, PR #27) whose real consumer is the diver's surge model, not the surface.
- Weather and a simulated clock in the maintained client (the Arm A sky, time of day and weather module is an integration draft).
- A vegetation mesh tier in the maintained client: the SpeedTree records are merged; the geometry-only republish is owed.
Blockers
- Resident texture: one SpeedTree species costs 156.6 MB because the vendor GLBs embed every image in every LOD; the fix is an asset normalisation step, not a client change.
- Every roof form, storey count, door and material on the pair is inferred (the product carries no roof, storey or use field); a compiler field would replace the inference with evidence.
Next proof
Roofs, facades and props from the compiler's aa2 imports mounted on the maintained client over the public pair, measured on a GPU frame against the same pose in the frozen alpha.
CPU and GPU simulation and physics (world-sim, SIM-17) In ProgressIn ProgressIn Progress
Delivered (reviewed, merged or independently verified)
- The deterministic core (SIM-3): a fixed 30 Hz tick over a tile group, an event log, snapshots, replay; native x86, arm and WASM produce the same bytes (the traffic page above proves it live).
- CPU scaling: partitioning vehicle leader candidates by lane (PR #14, head d04e014) takes 8,192 distributed vehicles from 36.0 ms to 3.3 ms p50 per tick natively with byte-identical logs; source checks and the gauntlet are green and two formal approvals are on the exact head; it is not yet merged.
- Browser scaling experiment (INB-21 S): thirty browser runs and 9,000 per-tick player samples match the native oracle; at 11,335 stress agents the main-thread tick p95 is 58 ms and intent-to-draw 4.35 s, so correct work can still be seconds late without live admission and reconciliation.
- GPU fauna (SIM-17): a WebGPU compute-plus-render prototype on the RTX PRO 4000; per-frame receipts record about 0.73 ms compute step and 0.40 ms render for the captured shoal, with a 1,024-agent algorithm comparison against WASM brute force. The independent review of earlier sources (629264a to 5087ded) confirmed a direct uniform-grid neighbour search; the pinned 365f8d6 export has not been independently reviewed, and the author discloses open trajectory agreement, red-trajectory and soft-contact limits.
- A numerics audit (PR #13): finite limits, checksum corruption, signed zero, u32 boundaries, seeded replay tables.
Pending
- The session layer merged to main at 23:16 UTC (PR #9, log v2, snapshot v2, intent script); private C6 sessions (PR #12) and the SIM-12 vehicle reference (PR #17) merged into their task branches; live admission (PR #10), the published C6 authority (PR #11) and the encounter bridge (PR #19) are drafts.
- Whole-system imports under INB-26: the complete aa2 mob behaviour package merged into the combat branch (PR #24, 23:27 UTC); aa2 vehicle behaviour with the current contact consumer (PR #25) and the current scuba marine package (PR #23: 172 tests in 13 suites, boat journey route intact; required CI red because the root style checker rejects the imported source, 454 diagnostics, a scoped policy asked of platform) are drafts. The scuba whole-system packet (627,861 bytes) runs the boat controller, open-ocean journey and shared hull natively for 33 simulated seconds (108 of 109 tests; the one coast failure is explicit: coastal collision is not wired); its ecology is CPU at 30 Hz, not the GPU shoal.
- An independent review of SIM-17's 365f8d6 export and eval's hardware-browser check of its public URL.
Blockers
- The dense lane still misses 30 Hz in the browser at stress density; a browser proof of the lane partition is pending.
- Imported source versus the repository's style and long-file checks: the policy owner's scoped treatment is awaited (no baseline raised, no kernel split).
Next proof
The marine and vehicle imports passing required CI under a scoped imported-source policy; the lane partition's browser proof.
Multiplayer and the C6 session protocol In ProgressIn Progress
Delivered (reviewed, merged or independently verified)
- C6 v0 (contracts PR #18, merged 2026-09-05 05:02 UTC): private development sessions, shared bootstrap state, movement and Interact, ordered authoritative outcomes, protocol refusals, reconnect state and retained retries; TypeScript, Rust and Python bindings; an authored fixture of 88 frames with 43 controls that both Rust and TypeScript reconstruct.
- SIM-14's private endpoint (world-sim PR #12): one isolated world through the authoritative core, two real Chromium clients over WebTransport receiving matching atomic state; a 150-second expiry run where both clients observed the same session removal and matched at event cursor 539,163 with the same state hash; physical resource controls (16 connection permits, byte caps, 2,049 invalid requests refused with the cursor unmoved).
Pending
- A public C6 runtime is built and frozen (world-sim PR #20 successor fc769b7, source CI green, one independent approval on the earlier head) with a finite launch, expiry and rollback plan; it waits on a platform-owned temporary UDP ingress on the CPU node and on the composer's readiness, and no listener runs yet.
- The encounter 0.2 archives (contracts PR #20, generated code, 48 paths) are fetched and verified; the core's cast facts and the joint Engineer and Medic fixture (world-sim PRs #19, #21) feed the endpoint.
- The client's scene attachment for authoritative actors (client-web PR #18) has two blocking review findings (duplicate mounts accepted; an admitted refused move invisible to the scene) and is not merged; private authoritative movement is mounted in the maintained branch (PR #21) and was exercised in the 34a21c6 increment only with a synthetic in-page client.
- C4 token field and C10 session key set (PLAT-39) before any public session.
Blockers
- No public multiplayer surface exists; the rendered two-client run replayed identical state but each player failed to see the other (reciprocal camera-visible humans FAILED, ground contact unaccepted).
Next proof
Two browsers on different machines in one C6 session on the public pair, each seeing the other move.
Classes, mobs, combat and progression In ProgressTriage
Delivered (reviewed, merged or independently verified)
- SIM-9 recovery (world-sim PR #15, draft): the frozen aa2 combat core, class kits (Engineer, Bulwark, Medic), mob FSM and in-memory progression run as an executable reference; Engineer, Bulwark and Medic against four robots end in 85 steps (4.25 s) with 25 accepted casts and two refusals; 232 tests and 14 independent controls reproduced by a Fable critic; recorded-input replay and independent process runs match exactly. SOURCE-MAP records keep, adapt or replace decisions and Rust destinations.
- CLI-5's combat presentation packet (targeting, cast feel, telegraphs, robot locomotion, audio, cooldown sync, loot and death) adopted into the maintained client branch at 22:22 UTC (PR #31, flag off) with review captures.
- The complete aa2 mob behaviour package imported into world-sim's combat branch (PR #24, merged 23:27 UTC); the joint Engineer and Medic fixture (PR #21): both players struck and healed, one robot killed, one session-only unlock; the two departures enter different cells, so it is not yet joint travel across one boundary.
- Eval's acceptance panels (EVAL-21) for content lanes: tree form dimensions is now an acceptance bar; impostor-vs-mesh silhouette stays diagnostic.
Pending
- Five documentation corrections (drain order, Laser 350 ms and GCD 420 ms, cast and channel rules) before the reference is a port specification.
- The Rust/C6 port of one ability (Stasis witness filed as C6-CAST-REQUEST).
- No mobs, no progression, no character selection in the new stack.
Blockers
- Depends on the C6 endpoint and the client consumer.
Next proof
One ability cast from a browser through C6 against an authoritative robot, with the aa2 golden parity test as the oracle.
Serving and the client (world-serve, client-web) TriageIn ProgressIn Progress
Delivered (reviewed, merged or independently verified)
- world-serve PR #7 (CMP-21, merged 2026-09-05 05:42 UTC, 466 tests): verify a local compiler pack, copy it as one immutable set, serve it through the static resolver, select it by a draft pin; rollback admission; descriptor-anchored opens on Linux so a symlink swap cannot redirect a read; one explicitly configured browser origin. Both CPU endpoints moved to this code at 05:49 and 05:51 UTC with 207/207 objects verified.
- client-web PR #3 (CLI-2, 30,000 lines, draft): the Babylon consumer with a verified loader (pin, index, manifest, product; bytes hashed at the point of use), a decoder mirroring the producer's checks rule for rule, S2 residency halo and the east crossing, capsule traversal with swept collision, the ground rule (nothing drawn or walked unless terrain and collision both verified), and the
__aaEvaladapter eval's harness reads. - world-serve PR #9 (static per-cell lookup outside every pack root, merged 19:31 UTC) and PR #11 (fine adjacent pair intake confined to held directories, merged 21:14 UTC): the e9d… pair is public with 17 of 17 objects verified by digest, size and MIME at 21:15 UTC; the 926… pair and the 29-cell 42c… root are public the same way. A2 public-cell lookup in the SDK (contracts PR #21) is approved.
- The maintained client integration branch (not main): adjacent terrain and collision-clear spawn (PR #24, 21:23 UTC, the public 34a21c6 increment), private authoritative movement (PR #21), vegetation on dressed terrain (PR #32), the combat packet (PR #31), inferred surface materials (PR #17, 22:28 UTC, head b4cc11b), the daylight fold (PR #33), the rigged avatar module (PR #34, 23:12 UTC), the recovered aa2 camera rig behind
?camera=on(PR #35, 23:28 UTC), the camera bundle fix (PR #38), water (PR #8) and the store-root fix (PR #10) at 00:19 UTC on 2026-09-06. Every module carried two independent approvals on its exact head and a lead verification on a fresh clone before the composer took it. - Camera and streaming, measured: mounting the camera rig doubled the shipped bundle (4,425,591 bytes at the terrain base to 8,048,110 bytes) because the recovered closure was imported through package barrels; per-file imports (PR #38) bring it to 4,588,040 bytes with a source guard against barrel imports. The global async streaming recovery (CLI-15, PR #29, draft) imports the complete aa2 world rail and stream closure with 37 test files; its first real global address (b1 answered with six public products, San Juan with explicit absence and demand rows) ran only against an uncommitted serving candidate, because the pinned SDK cannot read the public pair (no current.json at that origin, a pack-relative index that 404s); materialisation submission is not yet available, so local demand is not a submitted job.
- Eval's traverse run on the real 29-cell root at PR #24 head 511e1b1 (22:06 UTC, GPU-exclusive window, shared CPU): 15 of 16 checks pass; collision resolved (blocked 0.55 m from a declared wall, no penetration); inadmissible on crossing only, because the client's home-cell token re-homed 1,383 ms after the crossing against the declared 250 ms (about 137 ms on the nine-cell fixture); vsync-capped p50 16.7 ms says nothing about GPU time.
Pending
- Same-origin serving stays the rule: the public product prefixes send no CORS header.
- The refusal-sentence fix (PR #25, approved) and the INB-26 props mount (PR #40, ready) for the composer; the coarse world background (CLI-11, PR #20) and props palette (CLI-12, PR #23) pinned with two approvals each; the re-home latency finding owned by the client.
- Nothing on client-web main beyond the template and the shared mission text; promotion of the maintained branch to main is the existing reviewed chain.
Blockers
- The newer public 3a9095f build enables the rigged avatar and recovered camera through explicit flags; initial camera framing remains cramped until turning.
- No generation index or release: C9 not cut; C8 v0 exists.
Next proof
The next public increment of the maintained branch (avatar, camera rig, daylight, water) walked on the public pair by the composer and captured by eval's traverse harness with the crossing check passing.
Evaluation, platform and the fleet (eval, platform, labs) In ProgressTriageTriage
Delivered (reviewed, merged or independently verified)
- eval's capture harness (EVAL-2, done): readiness waits for every subject resource to settle; 18 of 18 negative controls each refuse on their own code; the frozen alpha's Austin ground capture is admissible on the rig (a stalled ninth cell produced an honest inadmissible frame first). The client-web subject and traverse mode with a frame ledger and perf row are in PR #24.
- Acceptance cells (EVAL-18, PR #21): destination halos, a true S2 face-boundary control and the twenty random cells registered; san-juan and st-moritz poses and clean boxes. CLI-3's GPU pairs captured and judged (above).
- eval PR #29 (merged 23:12 UTC as 42cea00): a native macOS Chrome target for Joel's MacBook Air (headed, no Xvfb or Vulkan flags, a platform-aware lock, host facts for console lock, power, thermal and display, a URL subject on the readiness seam); the first Air run against the public 34a21c6 build is a valid diagnostic (Apple M4, Metal, hardware WebGPU; ready about 8.6 s; 9.65 m grounded; vsync p50 16.7 ms) and honestly inadmissible for the ladder (no GPU-process reader on macOS, no clean HUD box). PR #30 (23:23 UTC) hardens the first-input teardown test and qualifies the p99 wording.
- platform: the job runner caller (PR #30), the shared demo publisher's publish-time legal gate (PR #41, merged 23:26 UTC), task owners complete independently reviewed PRs end to end (PR #45), the aa2 vendored-file allowlist for the secret scan (PR #46), the shared-mission rollout into 15 repositories and 32 instruction files (PR #47 and its siblings, all merged by 22:34 UTC), this report's reports-only publisher and twice-daily job (orchestrator PR #34, merged 23:11 UTC; the merged job installed at 00:08 UTC with a passing dry run).
- Resources: two GPU-node disk incidents handled without touching active work (22:18 UTC: 2.71 GB free to 22.39 GB; 00:08 UTC: 268 MB free to 31.84 GiB by removing six unused Cargo target trees, 31.6 GiB); world-sim build trees relocated to a legacy GPU host's NVMe scratch behind wrappers; a user-level Cargo guard with a 16 GiB floor approved for host installation (platform bbae937, deployment readback awaited; PR #49 draft).
- labs: LAB-1's earth compiler reached its Travis bar (LPIPS 0.5263 vs 0.5343; FID 61.87 vs 233.66) while the worldwide control did not move (0.6146): the model learns Travis, not the world. LAB-3 (LLM-authored layers) was killed on 2026-09-03 with its evidence. LAB-12 and LAB-13 delivered bounded diagnostics today.
Pending
- Eval's own publication gate still enforces the superseded restriction in code (EVAL-22, PR #28 open); repos turn from pending to live on the org index as they publish through the merged shared gate.
- The traversal harness (PR #24, draft) landing with its crossing finding recorded; a clean HUD box from the page's own rectangle and a macOS GPU-process reader so Air receipts can become admissible.
- The first blind pair of the new stack against the frozen alpha (EVAL-4 judge packs, PR #6); GPU captures of the vegetation cost.
- labs: LAB-13's door, interior and geometry controls merged in the lab (PR #9, PR #11 slope-aware door rule at 23:59 UTC) and handed to the compiler's roof lane; LAB-15 patch-scale vegetation merged; the maintained GPU visual capture harness imported into labs (PR #31); LAB-19's crown-detector comparison has no outcome yet.
Blockers
- The agent runtime's cross-node routing: reparenting live workers between nodes failed at 23:33 UTC, so cross-node handoffs still go through the parent; the runtime owner holds the fix.
- Imported aa2 and scuba source versus repository style and long-file checks (a scoped policy for manifest-listed intact imports is asked of platform; no baseline raised).
Next proof
The org demos index showing more than two repos live through the merged gate; eval's traverse capture of the next maintained increment with the crossing check passing.
State of the union: the parent's assessment editorial, as of 2026-09-06 03:53 UTC
Written by the parent (the orchestrator lead) on 2026-09-05 at about 18:00 UTC as an evidence-based assessment for Joel, and carried here by the report editor with the merges that landed after it noted in square brackets. It is an opinion of record, dated; the collected facts elsewhere on this page do not refresh it.
Fresh evidence behind it. The public terrain candidate (client-web PR #16, head 1740917) passed two independent reviews and a public GPU browser run: 124 m walked, about 13 m of climb, 2,326 grounded samples, 32 birds, zero errors. The sampled b1 and c9 cells are not a connected region and not the whole Earth. The materials increment (PR #17) had candidate GPU frames with textured ground, asphalt and facades and was still under review at the time [approved and public at 18:10 UTC as build a91f12f; the vegetation increment PR #19 followed at 18:41 as build 3d2db81]. The real avatar (PR #14) is implemented but flagged and not in the verified public game [its head f3fbe05 was approved at 19:34 and mounted in the maintained branch at 23:12; the maintained app's accepted increment 34a21c6 over the adjacent fine pair went public after its 21:23 UTC merge]. C6, endpoint and gameplay integration is not yet a demonstrated public multiplayer encounter. The reports are public and the installed 00:00/12:00 UTC job has passed its first scheduled firing and a correction.
Six layers
- Import (earth-data). Acquisition, immutable source blobs and source hashes. Three detailed acceptance blocks cover 442 planned cells; this is not global detail. DATA-24 (earth-data PR #17, two approvals, open [merged at 22:52 UTC after the assessment]) stages a real coarse whole-Earth source set: 780 COGs, 315.9 MB, 60-arc-second elevation and a cartographic land/ocean mask. Its roughly 1.85 km equatorial resolution cannot supply street detail; small islands and changing epochs need explicit treatment. Coverage, freshness, vertical datum and meaningful absence matter more than a count of successful downloads. Build broad coverage while detailing selected regions. DATA-24Linear DATA-27Linear
- Normalize (earth-data). Source coordinates, heights and classifications mapped to versioned grids with observed, inferred, authored and missing meaning recorded. The merged terrain resampling work (DATA-23, PR #18 merged 09:54 UTC) and the staged WorldCover layers are concrete progress. DATA-26 has 400 staged cells plus 42 source-absent ocean cells across three blocks; water classification is not a surveyed shoreline or a collision surface. Fine numeric agreement with a source means a faithful transformation, not equal real-world accuracy. Datum and epoch alignment and common-edge rules are the key debt risks. Raw data belongs upstream; clients consume compiled products. DATA-23Linear DATA-26Linear
- Compile (tile-compiler). A cell plus its neighbours solved into shared geometry and projected into render, collision and navigation products. Public supported terrain now uses a declared SWNE triangular profile matched by the client's ground sampler: more than a flat mock. Roads, bridges and driveways, building access, terrain seams and meaningful near and far LOD are not complete regional systems. CMP-34 (PR #18, two approvals, open draft) is still a coarse-mesh implementation draft; its low-subdivision probe exposed large edge and approximation discrepancies, so the coarse globe is not yet a verified continuous rendering path and no detailed globe is public. One solved surface identity across the visual, physics and navigation views remains the right goal. CMP-22Linear CMP-34Linear CMP-36Linear
- Store and serve (world-serve, R2). Immutable digest-checked products, generation identity and serving policy. Packs and supported-input selection have merged [static per-cell lookup, PR #9, merged at 19:31 UTC after the assessment]. The read path is real, including public product fetches in browser captures. The polished arbitrary-region, layers and LOD API and the automated demand-to-bake-to-promotion loop are not demonstrated at regional load. The R2 choice does not itself improve tile geometry or frame time. Request fan-out, cache reuse, cancellation, residency and decode cost need representative traces. PR #16's repaired leak and double counting were real implementation debt; review prevented shipping that version. CMP-21Linear CMP-37Linear
- Simulate (world-sim). Authoritative Rust state and the WASM-compatible core. Native/WASM controls, replay, lane partitioning, encounter components, session transport and contact queries have substantive code [C6 private sessions PR #12 merged 18:15, SIM-12 reference PR #17 merged 18:35]. Mainline and integrated browser adoption lag behind them. PR #18 (contacts) has two independent approvals but unanswered finding closures: a disjoint wall can make every tested floor ray refuse, and fragmented meshes cost far more than a single mesh. These are contract-permitted limits, not evidence of production driving. Keep CPU authority as the reference for exact gameplay decisions; use GPU bulk updates for fauna and visual simulation with explicit near-player authority and transfer budgets. The current fauna uses GPU readback then CPU instance matrices; it is not a GPU-resident world simulation. SIM-7Linear SIM-12Linear SIM-14Linear SIM-18Linear
- Render (client-web). Compiled world data drawn, player state predicted and presented. Terrain, grounding, material and avatar work are now real consumer modules. The verified public appearance is still sparse and basic. The avatar (PR #14) has 19 body parts, 88 canonical joints, idle and locomotion clips and measured clip calibration; substantial residual foot sliding remains, and the full clip, customization and photo pipeline is not restored publicly. The production renderer can stay while alternatives are measured on matched content; another renderer rewrite now would defer the art, content and integration work already known to be missing. CLI-9Linear CLI-10Linear CLI-11Linear CLI-12Linear CLI-13Linear
Asset-catalog is cross-cutting infrastructure for all six layers, not a rendering detail: it owns render, collision, animation and metadata views. A first cross-category batch and the fauna handoff merged; proxy vegetation is used publicly; legacy inventory, broader library intake and avatar records have open work (AST-13, AST-20, AST-21) [all three merged between 21:47 and 23:28 UTC, with AST-19, AST-22, AST-23, AST-24 and AST-26]. The AST-19 richer environment intake still lacked a delivered packet at the last check [its two batches merged at 21:10 and 21:25]. Some avatar bytes have already been hosted under the owner authorization, so "no vendor assets are public" is now too broad. The useful environmental palette and library throughput remain far short of the game's needs; ready assets must mean correct scale, material, rig and LOD in actual consumer use, not catalog rows. AST-19Linear AST-20Linear AST-21Linear AST-22Linear
Repository by repository
- contracts: generated wire, SDK and browser packages are useful foundations; encounter 0.2, coarse terrain and cell lookup are active work (PRs #19 to #22). Avoid growing schemas before a real producer and consumer can exercise them.
- earth-data: concrete normalization and broad-source work; publication and adoption lag and coordinate and edge semantics remain the critical finish.
- tile-compiler: true supported terrain delivered; rich world solving and global refinement unfinished. Deserves strong solver and research staffing (the aa2 facade solver import, PR #20, is under INB-26).
- world-serve: real immutable serving; the reusable lookup, demand and release path needs closing into an easy independent-consumer API.
- asset-catalog: necessary implementation, insufficient visible environmental asset throughput. The first useful palette and bulk catalog work should coexist.
- world-sim: strong component evidence, weak integrated gameplay throughput; repeated author and reviewer admission failures directly delay closure.
- client-web: meaningful visible progress from a scaffold, but far below target quality; public reviewed branches still need promotion to maintained releases (main carries only the template and the shared mission text; the features live on the maintained integration branch and in open PRs).
- eval: readiness bugs caught and fixed, independent screenshots and controls exist; the traversal harness (PR #24) is open. Broaden representative sustained metrics while keeping captures honest about GPU, content, epoch and readiness.
- platform: reports, tooling and supported recoveries work; fragile review metadata, runtime admission and lifecycle failures still waste time (PLAT-107 to PLAT-111). Fix the current path.
- labs: genuine data and model experiments and reviewed compiler and placement handoffs. LAB-19 is an active pretrained crown-detector comparison with Seattle labels withheld; no outcome yet. Older negative lab outcomes do not cancel the four-week imagery programme (LAB-17). LAB-17Linear LAB-19Linear
- orchestrator: has over-relayed, accepted stale execution badges, retained too many historical rules and called some readiness gaps from stale reports. The parent owns those failures; the remedy is direct owners and evidence, not more hierarchy. The desk and joel repositories are communication and intent surfaces, not product engines.
Legacy reuse, and what deserves a rewrite
aa2 has been referenced concretely: the frozen e286375 and the aa2-fresh b1f6ba0 trees have identical tracked application source despite divergent histories. Reuse evidence includes the Engineer, Bulwark and Medic classes and robot encounter behaviour, asset manifests, the rigged avatar with wardrobe and locomotion, the photo-to-Tripo task chain, vehicle and buoyancy code, driveway, street-furniture and bridge systems, and LOD and rendering examples. Scuba supplied real GPU shoaling, an FFT ocean and asset references. Finding a source path is not migration; combat, avatar and solving adoption remain uneven. Reasonable fresh work: reproducible data and compiler products, shared world identity, explicit budgets, common authority and deterministic replay. Reuse, buy or adapt should usually win for an existing good rig, locomotion clips, content, UI and proven game behaviour; a Rust rewrite or a schema approval is not automatically an improvement. Compare the old and new systems at equal content in representative scenes. Legacy is a minimum comparison and a source library, never the project's final ambition. INB-25Linear INB-26Linear
Main debts
The biggest debt is integration and release debt: published branch builds, open PR stacks and provisional adapters are not yet one continuously maintainable release. Close green stacks and pin current producer and consumer manifests. Keep one composer per candidate but distribute independent modules under area owners; a single composer must not become the author of every feature. Other debts: useful but temporary source bundles and hand-copied receipts; old rules contradicting current authority; mathematical guarantees that permit behaviour too conservative for gameplay; thin, undiverse content; disconnected regional coverage; metrics that count tests, artefacts or agents instead of player-visible outcomes. Historical infrastructure and research prose contains assumptions contradicted by newer measured receipts; treat those sections as dated, not as live authority. The agent runtime is a measured bottleneck (review placements executed hours after being placed, quota errors without routing walls, parked pools, silent exits); the existing runtime owner handles supported recovery and precise fixes, and no blanket restart or extra diagnostics team is justified. Keep independent adversarial review for risky geometry, authority and cache changes; make administrative corrections cheap. Measure admission time, productive time, review wait, time to browser adoption and user-visible quality, not token totals.
The regional-world path and where the innovation is
Run breadth and depth together: coarse global addressing and terrain; one connected city-and-nature region with good local detail; then reuse the pipeline for contrasting coast, island and alpine places. Prove continuous travel across many cells with LOD increasing near players under bounded memory and network and coherent collision. Dense cities need grade-separated roads, building access semantics and interiors; nature needs biome variety, credible vegetation, materials, water, lighting and movement (more trees alone is not visual quality). Interiors absent from sources must be inferred or authored and never presented as surveyed truth. The first game release: an animated customized body, two players, a readable three-role robot encounter, death and recovery, session unlock and travel; then density, mechanics and persistence. Cars, boats and aircraft need their own measurable handling and contact slices; ambient traffic is not proof. World activity should use simulation detail appropriate to distance and interaction, with persistent coarse state outside active regions. The innovation opportunity is world and content production plus adaptive simulation: AI-assisted extraction from imagery, semantically conditioned assets, materials and interiors, parameter fitting, GPU population simulation, offline NPC planning and bounded runtime behaviour. Labels, checkpoints, epochs and result limits stay explicit; the current NAIP truth set is small and single-labeller and supports diagnostics, not geography-wide accuracy claims. No evidence warrants abandoning the foundation; none justifies promising major-city MMO completion on the old provisional schedule. Next progress must be a better public game and repeatable region builds. The assessment changes integration priorities, not the ambitious end state.
After the assessment: the evening of 2026-09-05, in the editor's words
Joel gave three steers after the assessment and the fleet acted on each. At 20:15 UTC the parent published a reuse-first reset: the no-port posture, the tiny-import rule, the wait-for-scaffolding advice and the compiler TypeScript ban were removed from the standards; cohesive aa2 and scuba systems are imported whole with their tests, and browser language no longer dictates compiler language. At 20:21 UTC Joel made every task owner responsible for its pull request end to end, including independent review and merge; platform recorded it (PR #45). At about 21:20 UTC he asked that every agent-instruction file carry the big-picture architecture and game requirements; the shared-mission block reached 32 files in 15 repositories by 22:34 UTC. At 22:28 UTC he approved cross-repository work by feature owners with the parent no longer relaying. Under INB-26 six compiler lanes imported the aa2 worldkit, roads, roofs, facades, props and job envelope and ran them on the real pair; world-sim imported the aa2 mob package and the current scuba marine and vehicle systems; the client imported the aa2 camera rig and the world streaming closure; the parent delivered the scuba whole-system boat and journey packet to both nodes. The maintained client took eleven reviewed modules onto one base and published the 34a21c6 increment; eval's harness gained a native macOS route and took its first Air diagnostic on that build. Two GPU-node disk incidents were cleared and a Cargo guard approved. At 23:33 UTC the parent's reflection stood: the public 34a21c6 build over the e9d pair is the last verified public reference; the rendered two-client encounter has not yet shown each player the other; the game owner has a one-base adoption path for everything merged since. Decisions and trade-offs, dated editorial, as of 2026-09-06 03:53 UTC
| when (UTC) | decision | why, and what it costs |
|---|---|---|
| 2026-09-04 | Change the sequence, not the architecture: one complete data-to-screen path is the next milestone with a single integration owner (INB-18 audit, INB-19). | Twenty open PRs and 26 lead handoffs in seven hours showed coordination, not code, was the bottleneck. Cost: breadth waits on the first integrated demonstration; re-estimate dates from it. |
| 2026-09-05 02:27 | Push on every part of the stack in parallel, reusing verified aa2 work (INB-22, Joel's words). | Assets, normalisation and storage, solved and render tiles, terrain and vegetation, world life, classes and mobs get parallel builders on the GPU node's spare capacity. Cost: review load; mitigated by two-model adversarial review per PR. |
| 2026-09-05 04:40 | Terrain seams: publish each cell as a window of the source lattice (d1) with a one-pixel halo and lower-S2-id edge ownership, or bilinear-in-source on the unchanged grid (b) as fallback (DATA-20, ADR 0011 proposed). | Nearest-neighbour sampling on rotated per-cell grids displaced samples by up to half a pixel, 5.9 m at worst. (d1) makes neighbours agree to 6e-10 m but changes the per-cell grid the compiler reads and grows pixel counts toward the poles (+47% below 50 N); (b) keeps the grid with 0.8 m residual. The compiler currently consumes (b). |
| 2026-09-05 04:00 | C3 terrain profile tri-swne-v1: collision field reconstructed with declared SW-NE triangles is the height authority; walkable meshes are projections (PLAT-45 B4, CMP-33). | One authoritative surface for physics and render; consumers may not substitute the coarse walkable mesh for height. Cost: an explicit allowlist of draft labels; unknown profiles refuse. |
| 2026-09-05 05:4x | Immutable pack sets with a draft pin and rollback admission in world-serve; opens anchored to directory descriptors on Linux (ADR 0010). | A symlink swap cannot redirect a read; an invalid or incomplete set leaves the current pin unchanged. Cost: Linux-only guarantee; macOS is best-effort. |
| 2026-09-03 08:5x, 11:41, 15:02 | The legal gate sits at the send: whoever PUTs to a public bucket clears the exact bytes immediately before its own request; clearances are unforgeable tokens bound to the digest (INFRA rulings 4, 5, 9, 10). | The byte binding and attribution stand; the public-ok-only permission part was superseded on 2026-09-05 08:00 (next row). Cost while it stood: eight repos' demo pages read pending; this report's demo snapshots carry NOTICE files. |
| 2026-09-05 08:00 | Licence status becomes a record, not a hosting gate: Joel's owner authorization (INB-24) covers vendor, unknown and custom licences and missing per-source permission; the risk is logged asynchronously and can be undone; integrity checks stay fail-closed; no licence row is rewritten and no third-party grant is claimed. | Unblocks vendor packs, reference imagery and held data products for hosting. Cost: legal exposure is carried knowingly and logged; implementation work (gate switch, C5 pin, palette bundle, library intake) still has to be done and is tracked as such. |
| 2026-09-05 01:0x | C3 browser SDK makes no Range requests and accepts only complete 200 responses; the caller supplies the base (contracts ADR 0016). | Simple CDN semantics and exact digest binding; cost: whole-object fetches until a range-readable product kind exists. |
| 2026-09-05 (INB-21) | Retain the reproducible source and compiler pins, the Babylon comparison client and deterministic Rust; change terrain edge sampling; replace retain-all resource lifetime; reject Worker placement alone as sufficient prediction scaling. | The foundation challenge found a measured defect (seams), a resource-lifetime fix (bounded residency: 2.9 MB vs 190.8 MB live GL buffers) and a scaling limit (timeline debt of seconds at 11,335 agents) but no fatal platform or language finding. |
| 2026-09-05 05:21 | Browser tests on Joel's MacBook Air run headed, in visible windows (EVAL-21, PLAT-100). | Joel watches what runs on his machine; the Air's Apple M4 and Metal WebGL2 are the first midrange envelope sample (INB-21). The first sample exists since 22:40 UTC (eval PR #29): a valid diagnostic, inadmissible for the ladder until the harness can exclude other GPU processes on macOS and derive a clean HUD box. |
| 2026-09-05 20:15 | Reuse first: import cohesive aa2 and scuba systems whole with their tests; drop the no-port posture, the tiny-import rule, the adapter-lifetime ban and the compiler TypeScript ban (STANDARDS, AGENTS). | Source, component and review output had outrun integration and old rules pushed rewrites. Cost: imported source collides with repository style and long-file checks (world-sim PR #23: 454 diagnostics); the fix is a scoped policy for manifest-listed intact imports, not a raised baseline. |
| 2026-09-05 20:21 | Every task owner owns its pull request end to end: independent review, findings, CI, conflicts, approved merge, consumer handoff (Joel; platform PR #45). | Removes the parent relay from routine closure. Independence means fresh context and no authorship, not parentage; no self-approval, and a provider turn is not a reviewer. Cost: leads must staff and recover their own critics. |
| 2026-09-05 22:28 | Feature owners may inspect and change every repository a coherent outcome needs and exercise producer, generated SDK and consumer candidates together before separate publication (Joel: "do as you see fit"). | Ends the deployed-only, single-repository interpretation. Cost: domain owners must be coordinated directly; selective consolidation is allowed only when repeated coupled changes show a delivery gain. |
| 2026-09-05 22:34 | Every repository's agent instructions carry the shared mission and architecture (Joel); rolled into 15 repositories and 32 files by 22:34 UTC. | Agents review and build against the whole game, not a slice. Cost: one bounded rollout with its own reviews; obsolete gates and fixed-area assumptions were removed on the way. |
| 2026-09-05 22:18 and 2026-09-06 00:08 | Place compute, do not buy it: clear inactive intermediates, relocate bulky builds to the CPU node and a legacy GPU host's scratch, install a Cargo guard with a 16 GiB floor on the GPU node. | Two disk-full incidents in six hours blocked reviews and captures; aggregate capacity exists. Cost: builders must use the overflow wrappers; disk expansion stays authorised if routing does not hold headroom. |
Coverage: data on the store versus places you can walk editorial, as of 2026-09-06 03:53 UTC
Geographic and data coverage
- Whole Earth, vector: Overture 2026-08-19.0 in 13 layers (buildings, roads, places, admin areas, land use and more) with exact whole-Earth gap records, served as generation 5f8a73fd; any coordinate returns present rows or an explained gap. 17 portal places and 20 random land cells checked (DATA-3).
- Terrain: Copernicus GLO-30 as 442 level-7 cells for three bounded blocks (4.35 GB), not the whole Earth in detail; the coarse whole-Earth base (DATA-24, 780 COGs, 315.9 MB, 60 arc-second, about 1.85 km at the equator) merged for background only; neither is served by the dev pointer yet; the fine surface reproduces its 30 m source within f32 storage.
- Austin cell 865b4 fixture: buildings with labelled attributes, ESA WorldCover land cover, Sentinel-2 true colour and NIR at 10 m.
- Regional sources (USGS 3DEP lidar, NAIP aerials, Travis CAD parcels, King County assessor extracts) are logged as found and used by labs; none is used on a public page yet.
Compiled, served and traversable
- Compiled: 29 flat level-16 cells (Austin's nine home cells and twenty random land cells) in the baseline root 87e7532; four cells with real relief from the supported-terrain profile (b1 and c9; b1 and b7). Buildings, roads, collision and walkable surfaces are real; roofs, facades and props for the pair are solved by the aa2 imports but not yet mounted; water is empty with its gap; the row's b3 and b5 are not compiled.
- Served: three immutable packs public on the play host (42c… 29 cells, 926… b1 and c9, e9d… b1 and b7), every object verified by digest; the private node endpoints remain for builders; no release, no CORS.
- Traversable in the new client: the adjacent fine pair b1 and b7 with relief in the public increment (b1 to b7 and back walked on WebGPU); the nine flat Austin cells around 865b4b2b5 (about 1.5 km across) in the baseline, with the east crossing verified and one cell honestly refused.
- Traversable in the frozen alpha (legacy): Barton Hills and the other portal places at the old stack's quality.
- Simulated: traffic on 17 place groups (337 level-16 cells); a private C6 session in one isolated world.
Measured performance, with its hardware and limits editorial, as of 2026-09-06 03:53 UTC

Target design versus what is implemented editorial, as of 2026-09-06 03:53 UTC
The target (Joel's words, INB-19 and the master plan)
A GTA6-level game rendition of all Earth: enterable interiors, wildlife, weather, vehicles and collisions, planes and boats, multiplayer and rich NPC simulation; WoW's social fabric and progression, Dota's combat, Westworld-grade AI NPCs; humans and robots as factions; three starting classes; portals to seventeen real places; a link anyone can open in a browser on midrange hardware; beautiful and grounded, every real thing in its real place. This is a target, not a claim about today's build.
First acceptance (INB-19): real Earth data → compiler terrain, building, road and collision products → minimal attributable asset pack → pinned release → serving → traversable new client → independent browser capture, at three contrasting places plus random cells, with adjacent-cell traversal, digest corruption refusal and rollback, and named hardware, loading, memory and frame-time numbers.
Where each clause stands
- Real Earth data: served vector; fine terrain public on four cells through the compiler; the coarse globe merged, background only; the dev pointer still names no terrain.
- Compiler products: buildings, roads, collision, walkable real; terrain supported relief (candidate profile, PR open); roofs, facades, props solved by aa2 imports, not mounted; water not imported.
- Attributable asset pack: AST-18 proxies and AST-19 props in the public builds; avatar, SpeedTree, Synty, NPC and robot records merged; adoption measurements pending.
- Pinned release: none (C8 v0 exists; hand-pinned public increments only).
- Serving: three immutable packs public; same-origin only, no release, C9 not cut.
- Traversable new client: public increment on the fine pair, crossing walked; nine flat cells in the baseline snapshot on this page.
- Independent browser capture: traverse run on the real root, 15 of 16 checks; Air native diagnostic taken; GPU pairs for lighting.
- Three contrasting places: Austin only compiled (san-juan and st-moritz poses registered; the global stream answered San Juan with an explicit absence).
- Corruption refusal and rollback: server-side merged; client refuses altered bytes and foreign store origins.
- Multiplayer, classes, mobs, progression: public C6 runtime built, no ingress; aa2 mobs imported; combat presentation in the maintained branch; nothing playable together.
- Interiors, wildlife, weather, vehicles, planes, boats: door and interior rule in the lab; aa2 vehicles and scuba boat and journey imported as branches (33 simulated seconds natively); weather a draft; the GPU shoal and road traffic as before.

Freshness and evidence collected 2026-09-06 04:05 UTC
This page was rendered from a snapshot collected at 2026-09-06T04:05:22.474Z. Each public URL below was fetched at that moment; the chip is the status and size it answered with. Media files carry the SHA-256 of their original evidence file in media/2026-09-05/manifest.json; demo folders carry demo.json with their source head, verification receipt and folder tree hash, and a NOTICE.txt with attributions and the compiled-dependency inventory.
stale: false at collection (it read true through 2026-09-05 after a failed terrain step and cleared later that day). Those pages are owned by their leads and republish on their own schedules; this report reads them, it does not rewrite them. The 18 repositories collected 2026-09-06 04:05 UTC

How this page is made, and the next edition editorial, as of 2026-09-06 03:53 UTC collected 2026-09-06 04:05 UTC
Three scripts in the orchestrator repository: scripts/report/collect.mjs probes the public URLs, reads pull requests through the agents' GitHub App and card states through the Linear helper, and writes a public-safe snapshot; scripts/report/render.mjs renders this page from the snapshot, the edition's media manifests and an editorial content module (every published media file and manifest is immutable; additions arrive as new files, each manifest named by the hash of its own bytes, a rule adopted after the first edition of 2026-09-06 touched a published manifest and was refused by the publisher; manifests use dated media directories to match the installed publisher grammar; method note revised 2026-09-06 03:53 UTC); just reports rebuilds the index. Media are converted from the nodes' evidence directories with their source hashes recorded. Demo snapshots are built from exact heads with the repos' own recipes and verified in headless Chromium before they are staged. Publication to demos.agentarmies.io/reports/ is a reports-only, history-preserving sync owned by the platform lead; the schedule is twice daily at 00:00 and 12:00 UTC (20:00 and 08:00 in Puerto Rico) with a manual trigger, and each run refreshes the snapshot and the artefact references rather than the timestamp alone (INB-23). The installed twice-daily job (PLAT-103) last reported published at 2026-09-06 01:04 UTC (edition 2026-09-06-0056-project-update.html, renderer pin 2930e51); its schedule is 00:00Z and 12:00Z UTC plus manual runs. This edition's probes ran at 2026-09-06 04:05 UTC, each demo card carries the time of its own browser check, and this file was rendered at 2026-09-06 04:05 UTC (the node clock, which agreed with GitHub's and Linear's server clocks to within seconds when checked on 2026-09-05 06:47 UTC). Editorial prose was last revised 2026-09-06 03:53 UTC.
